To Host Your Video
We recommend using Google Drive to host your recorded video
as it allows uploads of larger files (up to your 5GB free storage
limit) and then easily converts your video for web viewing. If you do
not already have a Google account you can create on at https://drive.google.com/ by clicking the “sign up” button.
- Once you have created an account you can upload your video by clicking on the “upload” button.
- You’ll see a window pop up asking you if you want to convert the file. You can leave the radio buttons marked as they are and click “start upload.” You will then see the upload progress window. When the file has finished uploading you may need to refresh the screen to see the file on your file list.
- Click on the file name and the video player will open showing the first frame of the video. There is an option below the video to enter a description of the video if you would like.
You can tell it is a video file because it has the little video icon next to the file name.
Even though it is uploaded, your video will not play
immediately because it needs to be converted to a format appropriate for
web viewing. It takes some time to convert videos. A 15 minute video
may take up to 10 minutes to convert. Please be patient.
- Next you’ll need to click the “Share” button and change the access from Private to Anyone with the link.
- Then you'll need to copy the link:
- The link will be very, VERY long. To make everyone’s life a bit easier, please paste the really long link in at http://goo.gl/ to shorten it. This will create a much smaller link to paste into the Discussion Forum.
